BTC to Satoshi Converter

Use the BTC to Satoshi converter to translate fractional Bitcoin amounts into whole sats. Enter a BTC value and check the exact satoshi amount using the fixed Bitcoin unit ratio: 1 BTC equals 100,000,000 satoshis.

This page is a Bitcoin unit calculator, not an exchange rate page. The BTC-to-sats result does not depend on market price, liquidity, spread or trading conditions. It only depends on the Bitcoin decimal system.

BTC to Satoshi Formula

BTC to satoshi conversion uses a fixed Bitcoin unit formula. One Bitcoin is divided into 100,000,000 satoshis, so the calculation does not change when the BTC/USD price changes.

1 BTC=100,000,000 satoshis
1 satoshi=0.00000001 BTC
Examples
  • 0.1 BTC = 10,000,000 sats
  • 0.01 BTC = 1,000,000 sats
  • 0.001 BTC = 100,000 sats
  • 10,000 sats = 0.0001 BTC
  • 1 sat = 0.00000001 BTC

About Satoshi

What Is a Satoshi?

A satoshi is the smallest standard unit of Bitcoin. It lets Bitcoin be counted in very small parts instead of only as full BTC.

1 satoshi equals 0.00000001 BTC.
100,000,000 satoshis equal 1 BTC.

Satoshis are useful because many Bitcoin amounts are too small to read comfortably as long BTC decimals. A balance like 0.0001 BTC can also be shown as 10,000 sats, which is easier to scan and compare.

On this page, "satoshi" means the Bitcoin unit. It does not refer to a separate coin, token or biography topic.

Terminology

Sat, Sats and Satoshi: Naming

The words sat, sats, satoshi and satoshis all refer to the same Bitcoin unit family. The difference is only naming and grammar.

TermMeaning
satSingular shorthand for one satoshi
satsCommon shorthand for satoshis
satoshiFull name of the smallest Bitcoin unit
satoshisPlural form

In normal Bitcoin use, "sats" is the most common short form. For example, 100,000 sats means 100,000 satoshis, which equals 0.001 BTC.

Bitcoin Decimals

Bitcoin Decimal Places and Small BTC Amounts

Bitcoin can be displayed with up to 8 decimal places. The smallest standard Bitcoin unit is 0.00000001 BTC, which equals 1 satoshi.

This decimal structure is why small BTC amounts often look long when written as Bitcoin but simple when written as sats.

  • 0.00000001 BTC = 1 sat
  • 0.00000010 BTC = 10 sats
  • 0.00000100 BTC = 100 sats
  • 0.00001000 BTC = 1,000 sats
  • 0.00010000 BTC = 10,000 sats

Wallets, payment tools and Lightning-related interfaces may display Bitcoin balances in BTC or sats. Both formats represent the same Bitcoin value.

USD Value

Sats and USD Value

BTC to sats conversion is exact, but the USD value of sats changes with the Bitcoin price. The number of sats in 1 BTC is always 100,000,000, while the dollar value of those sats depends on the current BTC/USD rate.

Use this block only as a market estimate. It helps show approximate fiat value for small Bitcoin units, but it is not part of the fixed BTC-to-satoshi formula.

1 sats=$0.00073820
100 sats=$0.073820
1,000 sats=$0.738200
10,000 sats=$7.3820
100,000 sats=$73.8200
1,000,000 sats=$738.2000
Important Note

Sats Are Bitcoin Units, Not a Separate Coin

Sats on this page mean satoshis, the small units of Bitcoin. A wallet balance shown in sats still represents Bitcoin.

Sats are not a separate blockchain asset when used as Bitcoin units. They are a different way to display BTC, similar to how cents display smaller parts of a dollar.

This page does not cover 1000SATS tokens, meme coins, stock tickers or other assets using similar names. The focus here is only Bitcoin unit conversion: BTC to sats and sats to BTC.
